Radiographic Testing (RT)
Discover defects lurking in your equipment with Radiographic Testing (RT). This method of testing uses radiation to discover flaws in materials preventing catastrophic disasters from occuring.
Radiographic Testing (RT) and Industrial X-Ray Inspection
Radiographic testing creates clear 2D images of your assets or equipment, helping both our technicians and our clients assess the conditions for safety and reliability. Always highly trained, our technicians are Level II, CGSB/SNT-certified, assistants are certified by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), and serve clients across northern Alberta and British Columbia with non-destructive testing. Radiographic Testing and Industrial X-Ray Inspection are suitable for assessing pipelines, facilities, pressure vessels, and more, whether they are new or in use.
How It Works
Radiographic Testing (RT) assesses material integrity by directing radiation through it to detect hidden flaws. This process generates a 2D image on radiographic film, revealing both internal and external weld structures and their flaws. Anode NDT technicians interpret the results based on the latest codes or standards and provide guidance for the necessary corrective action.
The RT process involves safety checks, clearing the area of non-nuclear energy workers, placing a radioactive device and radiographic film on opposite sides of the material, using radiation for penetration, and interpreting the results. A comprehensive report is then delivered to the client detailing the non-destructive testing findings.
Discover Defects In Your Equipment:
Lack Of Fusion, Incomplete Penetration, Undercuts, Hollow Bead, Porosity and Pinholes, Tungsten or Slag Inclusion, Burn-Through or Icicles, Internal Concavity, High-Low Misalignment, and Cracks.
Radiographic Testing:
By The Industry
Radiographic Testing, due to its non-destructive nature, has the potential to benefit several industries. We have years of extensive experience performing non-destructive testing in the following industries:
Oil & Gas
Construction
Forestry (Pulp & Paper)
Nuclear
Radiographic Testing:
By Equipment
Anode NDT commonly uses Radiographic Testing (RT) or X-Ray to inspect the following for subsurface flaws and defects throughout Grande Prairie, Dawson Creek, Peace River, Fort St. John, and throughout northern Alberta and British Columbia:
Facilities and Gas Plants
Pipelines
Bridges
Custom Fabrications
Industrial Facilities and More
Radiographic Testing:
Specific to Gas Plants
At gas plants, radiographic testing can trigger safety systems, causing costly shutdowns. Because testing can be risky, we prioritize communication.
Certified Anode NDT technicians coordinate with plant operators when testing will take place.
Temporarily bypass the appropriate safety measures to safely and efficiently complete the radiographic testing.
